Project details

The ocean waves on the façade of VIDENA Aquatic Centre highlight the symbolism of the sea and its relevance for the City of Lima.

The Olympic-class Aquatic Centre was designed and delivered for the Pan American and Para-pan American Games 2019 in Lima, Peru. Delivered on an extremely fast-track programme, the venue was designed and built in 17 months. Working closely with FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation), conciliating international sports regulations and local building regulations was a key challenge.

The key facilities include a 50m Competition pool, a Diving Pool, and 50m Training/Warm-up Pool. After the Games, the Legacy phase will promote water-based sports and provide the first of its kind in terms of requisite sports infrastructure. The Legacy spectator capacity will be approximately 3000 seats. In Legacy mode, the temporary tier will be removed and the remaining space will be transformed into a gym and commercial space.
