The Square has been modified over the centuries, changing in character from a celebration of horticulture to a memorial landscape with two listed monuments - the Roosevelt Memorial and the Eagle Squadron’s Memorial. With the neighbouring embassy now relocated and its conversion to a hotel complete, things are altogether more relaxed and inviting.

By focusing on nature and human experience, Grosvenor Square will once again become a natural haven at the heart of a welcoming and vibrant Mayfair.

Grosvenor Square is the largest of Mayfair’s garden squares and is widely used and deeply cherished. Originally laid out around 1725 it was envisaged as a ‘Wilderness Worke’ - a form of neatly ordered geometric garden for strolling, that brought nature from the countryside into the city, for the wellbeing of city-dwellers.

The highlight of the re-imagined garden is undoubtedly the planting. A rich tapestry of textures, colours, forms, and silhouettes provides endless opportunities for visitors to immerse themselves in the joy of the natural world.
