A transformative educational hub in East Renfrewshire, designed to foster collaboration, sustainability, and community engagement.

The design unites Neilston Primary School, St Thomas’ Primary School, and the Madras Family Centre, offering modern learning environments alongside shared spaces for the wider community.
The campus is built on the challenging terrain of the existing Neilston Primary School and was delivered as a tandem build. Both schools feature two-storey layouts, each with covered terraces and atriums for flexible learning, while a central atrium serves as a communal space where students can dine, socialise, and learn together. The adjoining S.T.E.A.M room, arts spaces, and interactive green room enhance creativity and interdisciplinary learning.
Designed with passive sustainability principles, the campus adheres to LEIP 1 criteria, optimising classroom orientation and a fabric-first approach to reduce heat loss. Outdoor learning is seamlessly integrated through external maker spaces, natural play areas, contemplation zones, and garden workshops.
The Family Centre is designed to support children’s development through nature-inspired spaces, ranging from quiet areas to interactive, double-height play zones. Throughout the campus, biophilic design principles create a nurturing, calm atmosphere.
With extensive community consultation shaping its landscape, the campus also includes an orchard and a community-facing garden to encourage intergenerational learning. Thoughtfully designed shared facilities ensure accessibility beyond school hours, reinforcing the campus as a welcoming resource for the entire community.
