Fela is a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner and a Chartered Fellow Member of twelve professional bodies in the United Kingdom, including IOSH, CIOB, APS, IIRSM, CABE, CMI, IAM, ICM, IoD, ITOL, IC, and OTHM. He is listed in the United Kingdom Occupational Safety and Health Consultant Register, as well as the European Network of Safety and Health Professional Organisation Register.
At BDP, Fela applies his extensive health and safety and design risk management expertise across various sectors, with particular emphasis on heritage, health, workplace, office, education, housing, infrastructure, sports, retail and mixed-use projects. With over 28 years of experience, he has contributed to numerous developments by addressing all aspects of safety in design, ensuring that risks are adequately identified, mitigated, and managed. His roles include serving as CDM Principal Designer (health and safety) and CDM Client Adviser.
Fela is committed to ensuring that the requirements of CDM 2015 Regulations are thoroughly integrated into every facet of the design and construction phases. He collaborates with the design team and clients to ensure that all responsibilities are fulfilled across every work stage, taking the lead in design risk assessment activities. This includes the integration of CDM design risk management with BIM, focusing on construction health and safety, and leading workshops to streamline the effective usage of project hazard and risk registers in a clear and communicable manner.
Prior to his tenure at BDP, Fela was involved in numerous projects with LUL and Network Rail, encompassing shopping malls, offices, retail spaces, fit-outs, social housing, recreational facilities, heritage sites, sports facilities, infrastructures, airport, demolition, lake remediation, museums, as well as educational and health projects. He fulfilled HSEQ and CDMC roles with the following companies : Alfred McAlpine, Tubelines, Westinghouse Rail Systems, and Turner & Townsend Project Management.
Fela is a certified and registered Occupation Safety and Health IOSH and NEBOSH trainer; IRCA Lead Auditor; SSiP Scheme Assessor; APS NOS and RPS Assessor; NVQ Assessor; and qualified Internal and External Quality Assessor. He is a mentor with IOSH, IIRSM and CMI. He is also a STEM Ambassador.
