The Chancery Rosewood occupies the Grade II listed former U.S. Embassy on Grosvenor Square in Mayfair. The hotel and retail destination features 146 spacious rooms and suites.
Working with David Chipperfield Architects, we designed the surrounding public realm, external dining areas, and roof terraces offering views across Grosvenor Square, Hyde Park and beyond. Located on the square’s western edge within the Mayfair Conservation Area, the landscape proposals respect the historic character of Grosvenor Square Gardens while elevating the public realm. The design complements the building’s iconic architecture, creating a refined, high‑quality streetscape. At ground level, the scheme offers flexibility and accessibility, with outdoor dining and clear arrival spaces at key entrances.
The roof terraces feature biodiverse planting, quiet seating areas, and adaptable zones including a rooftop bar. The surrounding public realm, redesigned by BDP in parallel with the development, improves accessibility, environmental performance and context, with new settings for statues of Presidents Eisenhower and Reagan and the refurbished Grade II listed Police Call Box within a revitalised landscape.
