Since 2020, BDP has been involved in exploratory, visioning studies to assist Cadogan Estates to meet their aspiration to maintain Sloane Street as the best luxury street in the world. The studies have since led to work across numerous projects in the Cadogan Estates portfolio to reappropriate existing buildings for retail, F&B and commercial use.

Located adjacent to Cadogan Place Gardens, within the Hans Conservation Area, Oakley House has the potential to be a key stepping stone in the revitalisation of Sloane Street, creating an important bridge between the north and south of the street, and encouraging movement from Sloane Square and the increased commercialisation of Sloane Street.
A six-storey building with limestone detailing, built in 1902, whilst currently unlisted Oakley House is a designated HRB. Its verticality is accentuated by uniform bay windows, giving a somewhat monotonous appearance. The ground level is currently occupied by a car park, with residential on the levels above.

BDP’s proposals focus on the creation of new retail units at ground level – revitalising the public space and activating the ground floor frontage. Playing to the concept of ‘contemporary heritage’, alterations to the building frontage incorporate carefully designed shop fronts in keeping with the public area. New stepped and sloped entrances to the proposed shops provide a seamless transition to the newly created retail areas.
