BDP’s Glasgow studio occupies the historic Grosvenor Building, originally designed by Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson.

BDP’s Glasgow studio is housed in the A-listed Grosvenor Building, a 19th-century landmark by Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson. Located at 72 Gordon Street opposite Glasgow Central Station, this former warehouse with ground-floor retail now provides a striking setting for BDP’s creative practice in the heart of the city, surrounded by notable examples of Glasgow’s architectural heritage.

The interior fit-out respects the building’s industrial character while delivering a contemporary workplace. An exposed structural soffit ceiling celebrates the original robust construction and allows daylight from the central lightwell to flood the space. Natural materials such as timber, linoleum and living plants create a biophilic environment that encourages wellbeing and collaboration, with open-plan workstations, flexible meeting areas and informal breakout zones arranged around the lightwell to foster connectivity.

Heritage elements including cast-iron columns, stone mullions and timber sash windows have been retained and sensitively repaired, while new services are concealed within the exposed soffit to minimise impact on historic fabric. Energy-efficient lighting, smart heating controls and low-VOC finishes reduce operational carbon and promote healthy air quality. The result is a bright, open studio that embodies our commitment to creativity, sustainability and respect for architectural legacy.
