BDP has been appointed to restore the Plymouth Civic Centre, combining new homes, community uses and a Blue Green Skills Hub for City College Plymouth.

Originally completed in 1962 as part of Plymouth’s post-war reconstruction, the Civic Centre has long symbolised modern civic ambition. Our design retains this character while adapting the building for contemporary living. The tower will provide more than 140 new homes, with the lower levels accommodating residents’ amenities and education space to support skills development and strengthen the city centre.
The project introduces a distinctive residential offer that celebrates the building’s heritage through careful restoration, coherent circulation and inclusive design. It also enhances connections with the Theatre Royal, Royal Parade and Armada Way, creating new public spaces that invite people back into the heart of the city.
