Sami believes innovation emerges from an approach rooted in design thinking, technology and business creativity. He brings a forward-looking perspective to complex urban development, combining strategic thinking with a deep understanding of how design, technology and collaboration can unlock the potential of evolving sites and communities.

A Principal at BDP Quadrangle, Sami has led the delivery of major housing, master planning and mixed-use developments since joining the firm in 2010. His work focuses on large-scale urban intensification and the transformation of underutilized sites into connected, contextually responsive communities. He played a lead role in the award-winning Downtown Markham master plan and continues to shape major developments across the Greater Toronto Area, including the Scarborough Town Centre Master Plan and Alta at STC,  Valhalla Village, 99 Gerrard, 490 St. Clair West, Jane and Finch and 128 Peter Street.

Sami is recognized for bringing together complex planning, design and development considerations while working collaboratively with clients, communities, municipalities and multidisciplinary teams. His portfolio spans mixed-use, housing, retail, commercial and master-planned communities, with a particular focus on creating higher-density, transit-supportive and people-centred places. His work has received recognition including a 2025 Canadian Institute of Planners Award of Excellence for Jane and Finch, a 2024 Carbon Leadership Forum Ontario Embodied Carbon Award for Valhalla Village and a 2023 CTBUH Award of Excellence for 99 Gerrard.

An early adopter of BIM, Sami also champions the integration of emerging technologies into BDP Quadrangle’s design and production processes, using digital tools to strengthen coordination, improve efficiency and help clients better understand projects as they evolve. He regularly contributes to industry conversations on urban intensification, housing and mixed-use development and is an annual guest lecturer at the Schulich School of Business, sharing an architect’s perspective on real estate development.
