Institute of Acoustics – Forensic Analysis of Speech and Sound

Head of Acoustics, Gavin Stevenson will host an Institute of Acoustics (IOA) north west branch evening meeting with a presentation by Dr Philip Harrison, forensic analyst at J P French Associates who are the UK’s longest established independent forensic laboratory specialising in the analysis of speech and sound for legal proceedings.  Dr Harrison will discuss the types of analyses undertaken for criminal cases and the specific techniques used such as automatic speaker identification and electric network frequency to determine the authenticity of recordings.  He will also use examples from real cases to illustrate his presentation.
