The Queen tours The Lexicon

When: Friday 19th October
Where: The Lexicon, Bracknell

Bracknell Forest Council and The Lexicon welcomed Her Majesty The Queen to Bracknell town centre on Friday 19 October.

The Queen was taken on a guided tour by the council’s chief executive, Timothy Wheadon, and was introduced to the scheme’s architects, BDP principal and head of retail Jeremy Sweet, director Garry Wilding and associate Alex Masheder.

Jeremy Sweet said: “it was a great honour to welcome Her Majesty to The Lexicon and explain the design of the scheme to her.”

The Lexicon is a next generation shopping and leisure destination providing a vibrant mix of brands and experiences, green landscaped spaces for entertainment and events, and a high quality mix of shops and leisure venues connected in a pedestrian-friendly environment.

The masterplan is conceived with streets and spaces at the core, individual building blocks are designed to provide variety and interest. The scheme utilises a rich warm palette of materials including brick, timber, feature perforated aluminium, and gold/silver aluminium cladding, with a strong emphasis on natural materials, exemplified by the extensive use of green living walls to a number of the buildings.

The Lexicon opened to the public in September 2017 and went on to win the best of the best award at the REVO Gold Awards.

BDP was lead consultant, architect and lighting designer for the development which was a joint venture between Legal & General and Schroders along with Bracknell Forest Council.
