Clerkenwell Design Week

BDP is a fringe partner for this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week with Brewhouse Yard acting as one of the core hubs, at the heart of Clerkenwell’s cluster of world-class design and contract showrooms and a genuine centre of creativity and commerce. Our landscape team is transforming the external frontage of our London studio to bring a temporary garden installation into the hard cityscape for visitors to enjoy throughout the festival and through to the end of June. The central tree becomes a striking feature, wrapped in a bright purple, with ribbons extending out onto the bridge threading a burst of colour into the space. Beneath the hanging purple branches the landscape is softened by a lush sculptural real grass lawn and enhanced colourful planting that creates a vibrant yet relaxing urban oasis for everyone to enjoy.

At the same time our acoustic team has assembled an interactive soundscape installation studying the impact of society upon our natural soundscape to complement the urban oasis created by our landscape team.  The installation delves deeply into how our relationship with the acoustic environment has evolved through the years, illustrating the effects of population growth and the ongoing migration from countryside to city living.  The installations have been sponsored by Maylim Ltd Construction, Willerby Landscapes Ltd and audiologic.

For visitors to Clerkenwell Design Week there will also be an opportunity to look inside the London studio’s reception hub area which is having a high tech makeover with a state of the art digital wall and an upgraded sound system.
