Roscommon Hospital Operating Theatre Refurbishment

Facts

Location Client Cost Completion
Co. Roscommon, Ireland HSE West €0.6m 2002

Project details

The project involved the adding of air conditioning and medical gases to the existing operating department, along with associated works, which included structural assessment of existing roof for  new plant and theatre pendants, adding of new false ceilings to conceal new services and general other upgrade works to improve the quality of the facilities.

The existing Operating Department contains two operating theatres with shared support facilities. It was required that at least one operating theatre be available at all times for use throughout the construction of the project.

There was also a requirement to install temporary air pressurisation during the works to protect the active areas of the Theatre Department against the risk of Aspergillosis from external works associated with another nearby construction project.
