GIS Expo Conference Bucharest

When: 22nd – 23rd March
Where: Radisson Blu Hotel, Calea Victoriei, 63-81 Sector 1, 10065 Bucharest

Lighting director Colin Ball will present at 16.45 on the second day of the GIS International Interior Architecture Expo in Bucharest.  Using the theme Lighting an Idea he will explore how architectural lighting has been misunderstood for many years as an engineered function of eyesight.

Colin will explain techniques that place people at the heart of lighting design and how light connects people with their environment.  He will place particular emphasis on the contact with natural light which is paramount to concentration, productivity, healing and education and demonstrate how harvesting daylight for its entire colour and texture can transform design in architecture.  He will feature many of the projects his team has recently completed including the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Brown Hart Gardens in London, the Enterprise Centre at University of East Anglia, Essex Business School and the award-winning UK Pavilion at Milan Expo on which an interdisciplinary BDP team worked with international artist Wolfgang Buttress.

Colin will also join a panel discussion at 13.50 on the first day of the conference to discussion the increasingly higher profile of lighting and interior design as recognised professions in the design of European projects.
