Project details

The newly constructed campus offers contemporary learning environments for two primary schools and an early years facility. In addition, the campus welcomes the local community to utilise a community room during school hours, along with access to sports facilities outside of school hours. Through a feasibility study conducted by BDP, South Ayrshire Council determined the most suitable education facility for all stakeholders, enabling the project to progress through the HubSW procurement path.

Designed to minimise disruption to the existing school, the campus was carefully developed on the same live school site. The chosen approach for construction involved a tandem build, allowing the current primary school to remain open throughout the process. By implementing some internal reconfiguration and conducting selective demolitions early on, the construction of the new campus seamlessly coexisted with the functioning primary school. The continuous atrium helps to unify both schools under the same roof and emphasises the shared campus philosophy whilst retaining each school's identity. The early years facility sits as a separate building on the campus which was the client's preferred approach following stakeholder consultation and review of the operational model of the early years facility.
