Michelle McDowell elected as a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering

Chair of Civil and Structural Engineering at BDP, Michelle McDowell MBE FREng has been elected a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering as announced at  its AGM in July. Fellowship is through invitation only and awards the UK's most distinguished engineers who have made exceptional contributions to the field of engineering.

This latest accolade for Michelle follows a successful year in which she was awarded an MBE for services to the construction industry and named Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year.

Included in the list were nine women, more than in any previous election in the Academy's 35-year history. The Academy’s retiring President Lord Brown said: “I am delighted that the Academy’s Fellows have elected the most diverse intake of new Fellows to date, with more women than ever before. The range of skills held by all 59 will boost the expertise available to the Academy in its mission to place engineering right at the heart of society.”
