Tessa is a town planner and is responsible for directing the planning group in the South region.

Tessa helps projects run more smoothly by bringing specialist knowledge to complex planning processes.

Her role is more vital than ever, with increased legislation, a stronger focus on sustainability and more detailed requirements for justifying schemes.

Her educational work on planning issues includes presentations, a TV interview and various publications.

Where do you see the planning profession going in the near future? “The legislative framework is likely to become more onerous and complex with the importance of energy consumption and climate change becoming more central to planning policy and building design.”

Teaching, Trauma and Tertiary Care Centre (3Ts)

Two new state-of-the-art hospital buildings will bring Elderly Care, General Medicine, HIV and Clinical Infection wards up to modern standards, and establish the hospital as the Major Trauma Centre for the region. The new build will include 361 beds, 65% of which will be in single en-suite rooms, a helipad and additional parking spaces underground.

Westminster Academy

The successful result of a true collaboration by a large and disparate team. We consulted closely with community groups and helped to provide a new academy resulting from a closure of an existing poorly performing school.

Major, sustainable, mixed use regeneration, benefiting the whole of North London.

BSkyB

Refurbishment of 1980s buildings for an administrative HQ. We provided open plan space with minimal closed offices to enhance internal communications and support company culture.

All England Lawn Tennis Club

Ace makeover for tennis championship venue. This project was underpinned by our masterplan, which reorganised the entire championship site to improve facilities while retaining the spirit of ‘tennis in an English garden’.
