Celebrating Pride month

The end of June marks the end of Pride month, and at BDP it was a month of education, discussions, and celebration of the lives, history, and culture of the LGBTQIA+ community. As a practice, we wholeheartedly believe that everyone should be accepted, respected, and (above all) loved for who they are, without exception.

Our EDI Network, BDP Belonging, organised a range of events, initiatives, and educational resources for our employees to learn from and take part in throughout June. We welcomed guest speaker and former England footballer Anita Asante, who talked about the importance of LGBTQIA+, gender, and racial equality in sport. We held a Lego speed building competition using their Everyone is Awesome set, and a model making competition that used card in the different colours of the pride flag. We also hosted a fun quiz night, bringing together teams from across the practice to test their knowledge on LGBTQIA+ history. Finally, our Toronto studio hosted an open-ended discussion on queer culture and the importance of pride, which ended in an open, honest, and informative Q+A session.
