Double Design Award Win for BDP Quadrangle

BDP Quadrangle’s landmark, innovative designs at 80 Atlantic and Yonge Sheppard Centre have been recognised at the Toronto Urban Design Awards, where 80 Atlantic won an Award of Excellence and Yonge Sheppard Centre an Award of Merit.

The City of Toronto hosts these awards every other year to acknowledge the significant contribution that architects, landscape architects, urban designers, artists, design students and city builders make to the appearance and liveability of the city.

80 Atlantic, a mass timber office building for Hullmark Developments Ltd, took home the Award of Excellence in the Private Buildings in Context – Mid-Rise category.

Yonge Sheppard Centre, a complex mall redevelopment with transit connections and new high-rise residential tower for RioCan, received an Award of Merit in the Large Places and/or Neighbourhood Designs category.

Principal, Anna Madeira, said: “We are particularly proud of these accolades, of our innovative design and of these two superb additions to our home city. These biannual awards step beyond the design of objects and recognise the contributions of architecture to the shared public realm in Toronto - 80 Atlantic and Yonge Sheppard are worthy winners.”

Principal, Richard Witt, added: “Recognising that attractive, sustainable building design with low embodied carbon and positive, people-centred placemaking can be realised, is an excellent signal to send to the design and development community. We’re particularly proud of these projects and it’s very gratifying to see them receive these awards.”
