Project details

The lively streets of Callao and the vibrant spirit of the Chalacos, the people of Callao, serve as the inspiration for the improvements to this building, one that that will continue to be used by elite competitors and the local community for years to come.

The Callao Coliseo, first built in 1996, was delivered as part of Lima 2019’s cluster of buildings which also includes the Polideportivo on the Villa Deportiva Regional de Callao (VDC), and the Estadio de Universidad San Marcos, for the PanAmerican and ParaPanAmerican Games in 2019. The fast-track renovations took 12 months to design and construct and, in all, the construction encompasses an area of 2.2 hectares.

Our renovation included replacing the roof, designing the external landscaping, and redecorating the entire building. Upgrades were made to comply with current accessibility, seismic and building regulations in Peru. 2400 individual flip-up seats were also installed. New toilets, changing rooms and hospitality have modernised the venue which will host the PanAm Games boxing, wrestling and goal-ball events. In legacy, the venue will host multi-sports courts.
