Livat Shopping Centre opens in Beijing

The LIVAT shopping centre in the Daxing district of Beijing, China marked its opening with a grand ceremony on 19 December. The 250,000sqm centre, which is wholly owned and operated by IICG (Inter IKEA Centre Group), is anchored by a 48,000 sqm IKEA store and offers over 400 domestic and international brands and more than 6,500 parking spaces.

John Tegnér, Managing Director of IICG said: “We are really excited and proud to present the LIVAT shopping centre with Scandinavia’s style. The LIVAT Beijing opening symbolises the fresh start of IICG in this market. We’ve been leading the European shopping centres’ innovative development by our strong anchor tenant brands, abundant international resources, the whole new vision of serving many people and families, and we strongly believe that these will also bring a positive influence to the Beijing local retail business development.”

The Beijing shopping centre is IICG’s largest to date and is its second to open this year in China following the Livat shopping centre in Wuxi which opened in June. A third centre in Wuhan is due to open in 2015.

BDP was architect, civil and structural engineer, landscape architect, interior and lighting designer for the scheme.
