S-Lab @ Leeds

Graham Mcclements and Keith Papa BDPWhen: 16th – 17th September

BDP is a gold sponsor of the S-Lab conference and exhibition to be held at the University of Leeds, attracting around 40 exhibitors and with 90 parallel sessions over the two days of the event.  Head of workplace Graham McClements will jointly present the opening keynote address on global trends in science and the development of AstraZeneca’s new Global  R&D Centre and Corporate Headquarters in Cambridge.  Also on the first day architect director Keith Papa will present on designing laboratories for innovation and industry collaboration, illustrating his team’s recent work on Maxwell Centre and University of Cambridge Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology Faculty as well as the Technology and Innovation Centre for University of Strathclyde.

On the second day associate Elliott Crossley will present on BIM for complex laboratory design giving an insight into how BDP achieved success as the first company to be assessed and certificated under BRE Global’s BIM level 2 Business Systems Certification Scheme, as well as looking at the new BIM requirements and implications for laboratories. 

Cardiff University’s Haydn Ellis Building will also be presented as a case study.  The building is shortlisted for an RICS national award later in the year in the Design through Innovation category and structural engineering expertise was provided by our Bristol studio.

S-Lab (Safe, Successful and Sustainable Laboratories) is a not-for-profit organisation established to support world class science with a growing involvement in the commercial and public sectors.
