Steve is a principal. Originally based in Manchester, he is now head of Shanghai studio where he leads the architecture profession.
Steve has 20 years` experience in all aspects of retail design, including masterplanning, mixed-use regeneration schemes; department stores; shopping centres and other types of retail outlet. He took a leading role in masterplanning Liverpool ONE, helping regenerate 42 acres of city centre space.
In Shanghai he won the major urban regeneration masterplan of the Sanshui District in heart of the city of Foshan, along with new masterplans, civic, leisure, comercial develpoments throughout China.
How is the architecture profession changing? “The principles of design excellence do not change, but the tools for exploring design have developed enormously. The 3D capability of computers has been the most exciting development in architectural design in recent years.”
The New Pujiang Centre is a district-level project which forms part of the Minhang 2035 masterplan.
BDP produced the masterplan for the new public and civic quarter for Sanshui, including the design of the new cultural centre, library city archive, senior university, medical research building, laboratories, city exhibition hall and civic offices.

We assimilated Chinese cultural differences into the design such as extended families sharing an apartment, separating kitchens from living spaces to accommodate vigorous wok cooking.
